A New Sermon Series - "Foundations" - Chapter One

Our Pastor is beginning a new "Message Series" which may take a couple years to complete.  Week One was just great, but I forgot my sketch book and had to use the back of the "outline" we were given--it had something printed on the back, and my watercolor didn't "take" too well.
Anyway, you get the idea.....
At first I wasn't going to "take notes" and I found my mind wandered too much--needed to keep those hands busy putting it all down on paper and highlighting everything.
I have my Bible on my Mini-iPad and it is wonderful, and so easy to navigate to the different Scriptures being read.

Stripes and Creation

The "Stripes" came and sat in front of us, and there he was with his little tiny girlfriend :-) .  Lots of good worship music this morning.
Then in Bible Class (Sunday School) we had a lesson about God's Creation...Very interesting.

Church Blooms

Christ is Risen--He is Risen Indeed!

Celebrating the Resurrection is a joyous occasion!  Our Service on Sunday Morning was wonderful....we had our full orchestra and choir (and congregation) singing all the triumphful hymns for the Day.  Actually couldn't get it all down on paper......did the best I could.  Then our family (Children, Grandchildren, and Great-Grands) were together at our daughters home for  Easter Dinner.  25 of us now, (some are living out of town.)  Fun to see your family all enjoying each other.  (also had some fun poking fun at each other's Brackets :-)

Judy in a braid

Today I sketched the lady sitting right in front of me, Judy.  She was wearing her hair in a very pretty french braid.  It was fun to sketch.  I didn't have my sketchbook or pencils so did it with a pen on the back of the sermon notes page.
If you are interested, my son preached at church last Sunday about Passover.  I thought he did an excellent job, but of course I'm just a wee bit proud.  If you'd like to view and listen, I'm providing the link here. You can fast forward through the singing and communion service if you want.

Palm Sunday

Today is Palm Sunday and the Children's choir sang.  Thought I'd take a real photo with my phone camera so you could see the whole gang up there. The adult choir was behind them and so was the Orchestra.  It was great to hear from them--singing "I love you, Lord"

ReSet/Restore

When I stepped into the Foyer of our Church this a.m., I was surprised to see this Characature (sp?) of this mechanical man on the Board with the word "Reset" written with his connection wire :-)  It turned out that was the theme of the Sermon.  Resetting/Restoring our lives in line with Jesus Christ.  I love the "Old Hymns" we sang this morning.

Combined Service--Traditional & Contemporary

We are attenders of the "Traditional Worship" at our Church--but this week we combined at 11:00 am for the final service of our Global Missions Fest (GMF).  It was mostly contemporary Worship and Praise Songs for which they stand most of the time....Wow, my feet were starting to get numb, but didn't want to show my age by sitting down :-)  Sin of Pride, I guess :-)   It actually was a wonderful time together to honor all of our Missionaries who give their lives to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  The Missionary Speaker did a tremendous job of describing the generations and responses to the world around them.
